After 4 days in Turkey
The fight continues and we finished already 8 races. I always qualify to the second round and there the real fight starts. Yesterday I had one of my best racing days. In the second race of the day I started a bit late, but had a really good first jibe and overtook 2 guys in the last jibe I also overtook Patrick Diethelm and was going behind Bjorn to the finish. He qualified in 5th and I was 6th.
Today it was not so successful, in the first race I risked to not pass the first heat as I got stuck in a wind hole and a guy overtook me, but I manage to finish in 5th. As the wind was getting stronger I decided to take my 7.0 and the SX M, but it was a mistake because it was to small on the marks. On the first mark I had a crash with BRA 5, but I manage to stay on the board. Than I tried to pass FRA 105, but I did a to short jibe and he planed around me, on the next mark I try to attack him again and had to go wide as he closed the mark very well so the BRA 5 overtook me. Small mistakes on this level are punished straight. For the second race I went for 7.8 and SX L because I did not want to risk that the wind drops. I easily passed the first. In the quarterfinal I was hesitating to much on the start, but still managed to get 6th to the mark, after the jibe I was still 6th, but on the attack for the 5th on the net mark I went down to 7th. After I try to overtake again but did a mistake and dropped to 9th. I learned my lesson today, that sometimes it is better to hold your place than attack and lose places.
After 8 races I am 32nd and I sill did not qualify to the semifinal, but I have two more days.
