Alacati has started
The wind on the first day here in Turkey was very good since the morning. After the registration has finished the competition got on the way. I was in a third heat of the first slalom and I felt really good on my 7.0 m2 sail and 112l board. I thought I started perfectly on time but some guys were in front of me, so Patrick and me were sure there was an overearly, but we were wrong. So I started to push and made it out of the first jibe in 4th, but right there was a wind hole, I was pumping like crazy, but two smaller Turkish guys passed me. On the straight I passed one and I was trying to sneak in on the jibes, but the guys were jibing really good. On the last jibe I decided to attack again more aggressively but the guy was experienced and did not let me pass, the other guy behind took the chance and took the advantage of our fight for the 4th place. So in race one I finished on the 6th place. Not a very good start.
We also started race two on the registration day. I was in the first heat where I also started quite bad. It is somehow hard for me to time the start here, as the run-up is very short. I was attacking on the first mark and unfortunately the guy in front of me fall down right in front of me so I crashed it to him. I got up as quick as I could and until the finish I manage to pass two guys to cross the finish in 5th. Again I did not qualify, not an amazing first day, but it is only the first day so I hope I can discard my first two races, as the forecast is good for all week long.
