Defi Wind 2011
Yesterday the bigest competition of windsurfing in the world started. Defi Wind this year saw 1111 competitores to sign in for the competition. Straight the first day the legendary Tramontan was blowing enough to start the first race on the first possible start.
I decided to take my Aero+ 7.8 and X-fire 112 as the wind was gusting from 15 to 25 knots. I started by the mark (the lowest white sail on the picture) and I managed to get to the first in second just meters behind Bieuzy Mauffret (F-112). I had really good speed on the starboard tack. On the way back that was a bit upwind I was straggling a bit and turned the second mark in 4th. On the way back I managed to get back to the 3rd super close to the first two guys. But the chaos on the third mark with hundreds of people laying around as the wind was super light was tricky to find your way through. Anyhow I got stacked on one mast and had to jump in the water. That was it and I held the 4th place till the end.
My speed was good and I have to be happy to be 4th out of 1111 people :)
Hopefully we can race more!
