Sylt 2008 - after 4 days of competitions!
Very changeable winds and hard conditions would be the best description for those four days. We only managed to finish conclude the first slalom race, couple heats of the second race and a full single elimination of freestyle.
In the first race Josh Angulo got disqualified and I got a 5th place which does not change a lot for me, but one place is one place. In the second race with again really light onshore winds the conditions were very hard as the swell was making the place very choppy. I was about to start good but got scared to be over early and pulled back a bit. That was a big mistake, because I got stacked behind the swell and could not start so I had a really bad start. I was trying to catch back but was just to far for a short race. Another bad result, but unfortunately this is the only way to learn.
In about 18 knots of straight onshore wind we started the freestyle. It was super hard to get out on the sea and it was very choppy. I had a heat against Leo Ray that I sailed quite well for the conditions. I landed a Forward both side, Spock 540, Grubby, Flaka, Puneta, Eslider and a Shaw it. I unfortunately lost with 2 to 1 decision. Let’s see if we will do the double elimination in the rest five days of competition.
