Sylt 2008 is over and so is the season!
The weather did not change till the end of the event. Rain, rain and again rain! This place makes you crazy, but on the other hand we had wind and all the disciplines got results. Sunday morning we saw a geat wave final in 30 to 40 knots of wind and rain of course.
On day 8 we started the forth elimination of slalom - I was in the third heat and I took Stealth 7.8 and the SX L which was just too big, but because of the on shore wind you have no time to change the gear. The wind picked up a lot and the head judge decided to go for waves just before my heat started. On day 9 I was in the first heat of slalom. It was super hard to decide which sail to take, but I decided to take Stealth 7.0 and the SX M. I had a good start but after the second mark there was a big wind hole so the heat was canceled and had to be resailed. Again I had a good start and came to the first mark in 3rd, I was holding my place till the last mark where I did a small mistake and Jimmy Diaz overtook me, but I still came in fourth to the finish so I qualified to the next round. In my heat of the second round the wind shifted a bit and some of us could not make the second mark, as it was too much up wind. The heat was abandoned and had to be resailed, but the wind picked up a lot and it was over for that day as they went for waves again.
It was all down to the last day. I needed to finish the 4th race to make my result better and I calculated that also in overall I would drop like 5 places if we don’t finish this race. In the morning as I wrote already the wind was hammering with lost of rain and big swell. All looked like we will not finish it, but the hope is last to day! I was nervous on the beach and decided to rig my sails. The sky cleared a bit and the wind slowly started to pick up. I armed all my sails and was ready. As soon the wind was good enough we went on the water with Finian that also needed the 4th race. Finally the marks were put in place and we were about to start. Four-meter swell and wind only for Stealth 8.8 made the conditions really hard. GER 88 was over early on the first start. The second start was good. I did not fell comfortable in the hard conditions so I decided to go for save sailing and finished 6th in my heat. Competition was finished for me, but the question was if they would finish the complete elimination, as only like that we would get a discard. A lot of heats were canceled and the wind was up and down. The final had to be resailed three times, but not even one hour to the price giving the 4th elimination was finished! I got a discard and went from the 48th place up to 38th place, which also helped me to get more points and hold my place in the overall. I must admit I was lucky we finished this elimination, I was really nervous but my hope was always there.
The season is finished and now I go home to relax and fix my potential sponsorship deals for the next year.

Tine! ti si car. upam da najdes sponzorje za naslednjo sezono. zdej mas ze kr nekej izkusenj in vrjamem da lahko naslednjo sezono se izboljsas rezultate.
