Sylt is finished and the season too!
Hi everyone! Sorry for a bit of delay for some news, but last week was a very crazy one.
Sylt has finished with a big storm and some of the best windsurf action of this year. Klaas Voget was the guy of the event for me as he sailed brilliantly in the double and reached a very good second place in waves.
Unfortunately the wind was never more right for slalom so we did not make any more races and I had to accept the 30th place on the final event. To be honest I was not really satisfied with it, but I know what I have to train over winter to make a big step forward like I did this year.
After seven events where we always had wind I finished the season at solid 25th place, but I do not look at it only as the result, I try to compare it to last year. In 2008 my best result was Pozo with 27th place, this year I was 22nd in Fuerte, 25th in Austria and 24th in Korea and again 27th in Pozo so when I see it this way I made a big step forward from last year and this keeps me motivated to go on. Also the first big final in Fuerte is a bright moment of 2009 season that motivates me for the future!
I got one more satisfaction this season as Finian finished 2nd overall, his best result ever, and a piece of it is also my work, as we trained a lot together an he could test everything and prepare as good as possible.
Now is the hardest time of the year, first I need to put all the things together and then find the financial support for 2010, but I believe this year somehow it will be easier, because I have shown to everyone that I can kick some ass in slalom in near future!!!
