Sylt race 2 and 3
A tough day is behind us. A very cold day and gusty quite strong wind with 90 degrees chop would be a right short description of today. I was sailing with Aero+ 7.8 and the X-fire 112. I was the first heat of the day which was very tough with seven riders who could advance. I was a tiny bit late on the start, but with a very good board speed I came to the first mark with the group. With a nice jibe I came out in 4th, but Lehman and Cyril were just behind my back and Gonzo just in front of me. In a very straight group we were turning the jibes. On the last jibe there was quite some waves and Gonzo decided to slow down and take the wave to turn on. I had to decide quick, I decided to go for a turn on the same wave, but he closed me and I was forced to turn back and use the second one, which was set perfectly for the German rider and he came out of the turn a meter in front of me and he pushed me down. I did not let it go and was fighting till the end, but crossed the finish 2m behind him.
The second race of the day I was in heat 8 that was again quite full of good riders. I started good but to much on the top, with good speed I came to the first mark together with Toselli, behind Djorn, Buzianis and Asmussen that started perfect, but he was closer to the mark and I had to go on the outside. Till the end we were fighting it hard and he finished like 3m in front of me on the 4th place.
I am quite happy as I was racing solid today, but the 5th places start to frustrate me. Tomorrow is another day and I have the filling that I will brake the mystery of the 5th place to advance in to the next round :)
