Turkey final report
Despite the promising forecast the wind did not fill in
enough on Friday and all my hopes were focused to the last day of competition.
After four races in which I had three bad starts and two collusions I had
really nothing to lose. The wind showed up, but it just did not want to be
consistent enough. The judges made the decision for the last possible start at
16. Just few minutes before they call it off the conditions improved the first
heat has started. I was nicely powered with my Aero + 8.7 and my RRD X-fire
135. After the bad starting I finally understood what I am doing wrong and I
had finally a good start. I jibed the first mark in 3rd and on the
second mark the wind was pretty light so when pumping I lost one place, but nevertheless
I managed to qualify to the next round. As much I have luck this year the
competition was stopped as the wind went very gusty again and the result of
round 5 did not count. With that result I would gain around ten places, but I
did not! So I finished the event in Turkey on the 44th place. I am
far than happy with that result, but this is sport and in sport you have to
know also how to lose. But I hate losing!!! So I will do my best in Sylt to
come back.
